Haha, my favorite blog from last year :)
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a fair-weather sports fan. The way I see it, all sports fans should adhere to a few basic loyalty rules.
You grow up rooting for the teams in your local region that play the sports you like. So you either love your home team, or you don't watch that sport at all -- there's no in-between. You don't just start rooting for them when they are **** doing good....I mean when they suck ass, you still support them! Don't just jump on the bandwagon cause some other team is hot and yours is not.
Don't go to home games and root for the other team.....if you want to root for them?? Freaking MOVE THERE!!
You can't change who you are rooting for mid-season either just because your team starts doing bad, be a real fan.
So your friends start talking **** about your team....you have two options:
a. Get new friends
b. Defend your team for GOD sakes!!
If you move away from your home region, you stay loyal to your original team. You don't adopt your new region's team just because they're conveniently located. You can watch them play -- heck, you can even go to the games. You just can't care whether they win or lose. The only time you can root at a game is if they are playing your original team.
Being a fair-weather sports fan is like being able to lapse in and out of one's citizenship at will. To support a certain team is to become part of a community. Just think about it this way....the victory of a winning season will bring so much more joy when you sat t hrough the hard years and stayed true to your team.....right??
